Most
glass beads are known to contain lead, particularly fire polished or
cut glass beads. The lead makes the beads very reflective while lead
free glass has a more plain, less sparkly look. The two laws below were
passed by the California legislature for jewelry sales to california
residents. California
residents some of our jewelry contains Swarovski lead crystals and/or
other types of glass beads. If the jewelry contains Swarovski crystals
or glass beads it will listed in the item description. Proposition 65: WARNING:
Consuming foods or beverages that have been kept or served in leaded
crystal products or handling products made of leaded crystal will
expose you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to
cause birth defects or other reproductive harm
Proposition 1681:
Effective September 1, 2007 no children's jewelry can be retailed in
the state of California unless the piece meets the lead-free standards
as described in the bill. Anyone selling to California consumers is
subject to the new law. To read the bill use the following link and
select "legislation" in the left column, session 2005-2006 and bill
#1681.
Notice:
Prop. 1681 defines "children" as age 6 and younger. All jewelry on this
site has always been marketed to adult wearers. We do not sell
children's jewelry. |
